New Year - New Commitments

It is at this time of the year that I tend to look back at what RPM Retail has achieved and assess our performance against the vision that I had when I started the company. That vision was “to improve store performance by motivating and empowering retail staff”.

In the 5 years since we released the first RPM Retail software we have grown our customer base to over 400 retail stores and 40 suppliers in 6 sectors – so that’s a good measure of forward progress.

The key performance indicator for me is that we have over 500 store managers and staff logging in to use their RPM Retail system every week.

We are always working to improve the ease of use and the relevance of the RPM Insights. Feedback and suggestions from our users is the most important guide to our future design and development.

RPM Retail has now replaced all our manual systems for monitoring results and providing feedback to store managers. I use RPM Retail every day to track the group’s KPIs by store, by category and by supplier. Our promotional activity and negotiations with suppliers is significantly improved now that we have real time visibility on the performance of our products.

Since implementing RPM Retail our gross margin has improved +4%, the proportion of dead stock at each store has fallen by -$20K and the frequency of out-of-stocks on best-sellers has fallen dramatically.
